What does a "Cannot determine PayPal status" error mean?

If you encounter a "Cannot determine PayPal status" error message when trying to link your fundraiser to PayPal, the information you're providing does not exactly match the information on your PayPal account.


Please open another tab or browsing window and log into PayPal.com to verify the account type (Personal or Business/Nonprofit), first name, last name, and email address on your account. Please pay special attention for the following:

  • Middle initial
  • The exact spelling and capitalization of your first name and last name
  • Nickname/maiden name 

Here’s how to review this information in your PayPal account:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click "My Account" near the top of the page.
  3. Click "Profile."

When you've verified the exact information on your PayPal account, please navigate back to your fundraiser's "Collect Your Donations" form and provide your PayPal account information.
