YouCaring Joins GoFundMe

We're excited to announce that YouCaring is now part of GoFundMe, the largest and most trusted free social fundraising platform! We welcome you to our global community of more than 50 million people, empowering changemakers and helping to make a difference in each other’s lives.

Through this transition, we will be progressively closing all of YouCaring’s fundraisers. Most existing YouCaring customers will have the opportunity to sign up on GoFundMe and start a new fundraiser if they’d like to continue raising money. It’s no longer possible to create new fundraisers on YouCaring even if you already have an account, so please sign up on GoFundMe instead to get started.

 

Please note that GoFundMe supports fundraisers for citizens of the following countries only (and excluding US territories):

Important dates

If you are not in one of the above countries:

June 15, 2018 - Incoming donations to your existing fundraisers will be disabled at 11:59PM PDT.

June 30, 2018 - Access to your YouCaring account will be disabled at 11:59PM PDT.

 

If you are in one of the above countries:

July 15, 2018 - Incoming donations to your existing fundraisers will be disabled at 11:59PM PDT.

July 31, 2018 - Access to your YouCaring account will be disabled at 11:59PM PDT.

 

 

What should I do if I want to start a new fundraiser or continue my current one?

We recommend that you sign up on GoFundMe instead, so that you can raise money beyond July 15th. As a member of the GoFundMe community, you will have access to GoFundMe’s best-in-class 24/7 customer support, Trust & Safety Team, mobile app, and donor protection backed by the GoFundMe Guarantee. Will I still be able to get the funds I raised on YouCaring?

Yes, the money you raised will always be accessible directly through the payment processor linked to your YouCaring fundraiser, which varies depending on your initial selection.

If you used WePay and started withdrawing already, automatic withdrawals will continue according to the schedule you selected. If you haven’t started withdrawing yet, please do so through WePay as soon as possible. If you used PayPal, you can log into your PayPal account at any time to view the donations you received and transfer money to your bank account if you choose.

 

Can I transfer my fundraiser content (story, donors, etc.) to GoFundMe?

Yes, you can copy and paste your story and photos into a new GoFundMe that you create, and most GoFundMe campaigns allow you to add offline donations so that you can list your previous donors.

Please be sure to do all of this before your YouCaring account is disabled on July 31st, because your YouCaring content will be inaccessible after that point.

Can I use PayPal on GoFundMe?

At the moment, GoFundMe can only send money to bank accounts, not personal PayPal accounts.


I’m a beneficiary of a YouCaring fundraiser. What does this mean for me?

If your organizer linked you directly to their campaign, you can withdraw the money directly through the payment processor’s website, which is usually WePay. The money will still be accessible in your WePay account even after the fundraiser has been closed.

Please reach out directly to the campaign organizer if you would like to access content from the their fundraiser before the account is disabled.
